The Flood

It has been raining pretty heavily for a couple of days. The area hit the most is Calgary, about 250 km by the road from our place. To us it is only a minor inconvenience as our water filters need to be changed every couple of days. We are an off the grid place. We get our water from a creek that is normally clear and drinkable, now it is muddy and clogs the filters. We also get some of our power from a small hydro generator that also doesn't do well with mud. So in march the clattering gasoline aggregate.

In Calgary, hundred thousand people have been evacuated so this is a major thing. We have a busload of teenagers on a camp here and their school apparently wants them in the bus and on the road. The problem is, road from here is CLOSED so they would be stranded on the highway. Some of them do not have homes to go to because of the evacuations. From what I hear, they are all well and in good spirits.

Our internet depends upon satellite reception which is hampered by the rain and clouds. Let's hope I get to send this post!
