The "Why"

We have been together when Sami lived in Germany and we lived in Finland for 5 1/2 years - each in a country that is not either one's home country. The Canada trip is a temporary phase in our life in another country before we will settle down in Germany in autumn. This trip is us using the independence of being in-between countries, in-between jobs & our earthly possessions in boxes stored in Germany (or mostly just sold). It's the perfect timing and possibly a last onset of "Wanderlust"- this beautiful germanism that describes the urge to travel & explore the world.

We are not sure ourselves just when we started talking about spending some time in a “neutral” country. But it was clear some years ago that Finland might not be the country where we want to build our nest. We were open but never had a good reason to make a final decision.

Having spent about roughly 3 years in our current positions, it seems that taking off now makes sense. Meaning, how it looks in the resume from the point of view of a future employer. Of course that is something to think about when we need to find ourselves new jobs in Germany.

So that’s why. This was going to happen, now is just the right time :)

When we told friends & family that we will travel through Canada and take some time off from our regular jobs, most questions are not " Why are you doing this?" but "Why going to Canada?".
